SIXTY8 - "Before the fall"

April 16. 2009

According to their myspace site SIXTY8 sounds like a band you’ve heard before, but you just can’t figure out who it is. I think SIXTY8 stands forth as a true individual band that manages to fit the elements of classic rock and metal perfectly into great riffs and catchy rock and roll. This is not your average band. If you think you’ve heard this before it’s just because they curl up under your skin and right into your brain telling your intuition what rock is supposed to sound like, -bringing back all your good music memories. The Album “Before the fall” demonstrates this perfectly; it’s almost hypnotic in the way you tune into the tracks.

The 12 song disc encapsulates a 5 year period and shows how the band has diversified over the course of time. What makes this disc compelling is the stylistic differences between each song and that every cut has its own atmosphere. SIXTY8 can tone it down and take comfort in melodic dwellings and then turn around and blow up everything in their path with the next song.

“Blood Red Sky” is the opening track, an explosion of an opening that really makes you want to turn up the volume. I like the solid quality of the production considering this is SIXTY8’s first full length album; excellent for this genre and you really can play the album loud!

SIXTY8 is:Tryg Bundgaard (Vocals), Kurt Schwartz (Guitar and Vocals), James Lee Humes (Guitar) and Brett Eurich (Drums)

"Any Race Of Man" will be awarded "Inspirational Song of the Year" on November 12, 2009 from the L A Music Awards. This is a great achievement for a band that never had focus on becoming famous.  The song starts out with acoustic guitars and violins, building up with drums, the obligatory guitar solo (which is great) and ends in a crescendo. I am so impressed by Tryg Bundgaard and his awesome vocals. First time I heard this song I got Goosebumps.

The 19th annual L A Music Awards have also selected SIXTY8 "Before the Fall" for Rock Album of the Year for 2009 and hopefully they will perform at the Award Show.
